At the heart of Christianity is a wonderful message of forgiveness and hope. It all revolves around Jesus Christ: who he is and what he has done.  The message at the heart of Christianity is pretty simple. Watch the three-minute video below to find out what it’s all about.

Below is our statement of faith which is a summary of the beliefs we consider to be essential for Biblical Christianity.

What we at GBC believe…

We believe the Bible has been given by inspiration of God and it has supreme authority and sufficiency in all matters. It reveals Jesus Christ who is the eternal Word of God and teaches everything we need to know in order to live for his glory. The Bible is not only central to the wellbeing of the church but is able to thoroughly equip all believers for life and godliness.
There is only one living and true God, who exists in an everlasting loving relationship of Father, Son and Spirit – one God in three persons. These three persons are equal in being but have distinct roles in the great work of salvation. God is sovereign in all things: including creation, revelation, redemption, judgement and the establishing of his kingdom. He is worthy of all glory, confidence, honour and praise.
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is fully God and fully man, He is the living Saviour who transforms the lives of all who put their faith in Him. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, and lived a sinless life in obedience to the Father. He taught with authority and all his words are true. On the cross he died in the place of sinners, bearing God’s punishment for their sin, enabling complete forgiveness through the shedding of his blood. He rose from the dead and in his resurrection body ascended into heaven where he is exalted as Lord of all. He intercedes for his people in the presence of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead.
Salvation is entirely a work of God’s grace and cannot be earned or deserved. It has been accomplished by the Lord Jesus Christ and is offered to all in the gospel. God in his love forgives sinners whom he calls, granting them repentance and faith. All who believe in Christ are justified by faith alone, adopted into the family of God and receive eternal life.
All men and women, being created in the image of God, have inherent and equal dignity and worth. Their greatest purpose is to obey, worship and love God. However, as a result of the fall of humanity’s first parents, every aspect of human nature has been corrupted and we have all rebelled against God, a rebellion the Bible calls ’sin’. We are therefore all separated from God — under his just condemnation. We must be born again, forgiven and reconciled to God in order to know and please him.
The Holy Spirit has been sent from heaven to glorify Christ and to apply his work of salvation. He convicts sinners, he indwells all true believers producing increasing likeness to Christ. The Spirit’s work is necessary to illuminate believers’ minds to grasp the truth of the Bible. He builds up the Church and empowers its members for worship, service and mission.
The universal Church is the body of which Christ is the head and to which all who are saved belong. It is made visible in local churches, which are congregations of believers who are committed to each other for the worship of God, preaching, administering baptism and communion; for pastoral care, discipline, and for evangelism.
We believe that Jesus is coming again, in glory, to judge humanity. All those who trust in Christ will be welcomed into a life of eternal joy enjoying fellowship with God, forever. God will make all things new and will be glorified forever. The condemnation of God will fall on those who reject God’s offer of salvation and they will be eternally separate from God.
It is the vision at GBC that we would “know Jesus and make Him known.”
We aim to do this through the building up of the body of believers at GBC through the power of the Holy Spirit by the faithful preaching and teaching of the Bible and prayer, to reach out and tell the good news of Jesus Christ so that he can become known personally. And from this life changing relationship, so too, people would grow in their knowledge and love of Jesus and be empowered to go out and make Jesus known within Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, the UK and all over the world.
